
Joachim Murnig is active both as a soloist and a chamber musician. As a soloist, he has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Tonkünstler Orchestra. Several composers, including Dominik Gießriegl and Georg Schenk, have dedicated solo percussion works to him.
In the realm of chamber music, he has premiered contemporary compositions by notable composers such as Friedrich Cerha, Rainer Bischof, and Brad Lubman, collaborating with esteemed ensembles like Klangforum Wien, Jess-Trio Wien, and the Friedrich Lux Quartet. He has also contributed to CD recordings with the wind ensemble Federspiel, the Academia Allegro Vivo, and the ensemble Louie’s Cage Percussion.
In addition, Joachim Murnig performs in a duo with his sister, pianist Clara Sophia Murnig. Together, they presented the world premiere of Dominik Gießriegl's Form in 2024.
